Data Wrangling in R

This workshop has sessions on multiple days. You should plan to attend all the sessions.

"Data wrangling" is the process of preparing data for analysis. This is a hands-on class with time devoted to practicing essential data wrangling skills.

This course will first cover tools needed to work with different types of data. Then we will apply all of these in the context of datasets to create, transform, and clean variables. We will also restructure datasets by taking subsets, combining multiple datasets, summarizing datasets, and changing how datasets are organized.

The materials are available online: https://sscc.wisc.edu/sscc/pubs/dwr/

This workshop assumes you have a working knowledge of the RStudio interface and that you understand the basics of the R language. If you need a refresher, take our "Introduction to R" workshop or view its materials online: https://sscc.wisc.edu/sscc/pubs/RStudio_Basics/.

If the time of this course is 10am-3pm, we will take a one-hour lunch break around noon. If it is some other time, we will not take a lunch break, but we will take several shorter breaks.
